Artsyl Enters New Territory with Revolutionary docAlpha™ Data Capture Solution

08/25/2008

ONTARIO, Canada (August 25, 2008) — Artsyl Technologies, a leader in document imaging and capture, today launched a new, fully automated and intuitive document capture system unlike anything else on the market. The solution, called docAlpha, provides answers to common issues found in current capture solutions, offering companies the ability to scan documents into a directory, auto-locate them later, and export them in accordance with thresholds set by the user. docAlpha is more accurate than traditional document capture programs because it combines semi-structured processing technology with artificial intelligence, and is the only fully automated solution that self-learns through verification, making the product far more flexible and user-friendly than its predecessors.

docAlpha is designed to work in coordination with Artsyl’s SimpleCapture Pro, both data extraction programs that are at the heart of Artsyl’s product line. SimpleCapture greatly improves the efficiency of document management by 1.) providing instant production-level capabilities from day one with no idle period during initiation of the system and 2.) serving as the inherent verification station for docAlpha so exceptions automatically route to SimpleCapture and no special workflow need be created. Additionally, SimpleCapture provides continuous feedback to the docAlpha server as to the handling of exceptions and new document varieties, providing automatic and continuous improvement to the overall system while eliminating the need for additional time and resource investment on highly trained personnel. docAlpha is also OCR-independent, meaning that it can be used with any OCR Engine. This independence is new to the industry, and significantly adds to the software’s ability to seamlessly fit into any organization. Instead of dealing with common issues plaguing today’s fully automated captures systems, customers find ease of use, reliable verification, and enormous time and resource savings through docAlpha.

Says Jeff Moore, Vice President at Worldwide Sales at Artsyl Technologies, Inc., “With docAlpha, we’re entering the world of fully automated software, and introducing a generation of data capture technology that has not been available before.”

“It’s the best of both worlds: full automation that learns with verification,” said Chris Riley, Co-Founder and Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. “And because we do a combination of contextual and image-based analyses, the technology is more accurate in terms of document identification and field location than what is currently out there.” He continues, “Change is constant, and I see a lot of change happening in this industry. Because of Artsyl’s history and experience on the service side of the capture business, we are bringing forth technology that’s unique to the market, and I see docAlpha as a really fresh approach to document capture overall.”

More about docAlpha

docAlpha is truly a revolutionary achievement in the field of document management, and boasts a wide array of features and benefits. These include:

Non-Proprietary definitions: In docAlpha, definitions are XML-based and open, making it easier for organizations to learn, integrate, and manage content. The software uses an open, published, and accessible XML schema for templates that allows any third party application to generate templates for docAlpha from their own code, including dynamically on the fly.

.NET API: The docAlpha software uses fully .NET application programming interface for definition generation and production runs, allowing organizations to use the latest in development techniques to integrate.

Hypothesis graph: docAlpha’s hypothesis graph is the easiest way to see the way that the definitions you’ve established are making accurate decisions about information location.

Fine-Tuning mode of operation: A special testing user interface that allows users to pick document definitions set, select a source test folder with images, and run them through while watching step-by-step what templates are matched, which fields are captured, where, and why, to test documents in docAlpha and refine and improve upon them.

Verification Feedback: This is an active feedback loop through which a verification operator's actions can be used to fine-tune a template. The feature allows organizations to maximize their verification time.

Multi-Dimensional Search Elements: These elements support lists, tables and transactions for multi-dimensional data, and complex data elements for more advanced extraction.

Repeating Elements: Recursive element detection allows you to create a set of elements and specify if they will repeat on the document. If so, docAlpha will locate them automatically.

Custom Elements: Users have the ability to create a new custom element from a group of existing elements. The new element becomes available just like any of the default elements, allowing the user to perform more advanced searches on documents.

Unlimited Lists: docAlpha gives users the ability to set up unlimited lists (of unlimited lengths) from any components, including custom-defined components.
