Artsyl Announces Latest Version of the Content Management Industry’s First Click-Entry Solution, SimpleCapture 1.2

Thoughtful new features take into account Artsyl’s top user requests, keeping efficiency and productivity a priority

ONTARIO, CANADA (July 3, 2008) — Artsyl Technologies, known for its extensive background and experience in document imaging and capture, today announced the launch of SimpleCapture 1.2, the latest version of the industry’s first click-entry capture product with guided operation, making it the easiest and most reliable capture solution on the market. As a former professional services company, for years Artsyl helped service bureaus and many organizations in the accounting, logistics, healthcare and legal industries establish their data capture infrastructures. From this work, Artsyl garnered unparalleled experience from which they developed SimpleCapture to deliver the most useful, customer-requested new features in the latest version.

“Artsyl has a very aggressive product roadmap which encourages us to keep an active and ongoing dialog with our customer base so that we are confident in offering the most needed features in our data capture products by the people who use them,” said Chris Riley, Co-Founder and Vice President Worldwide Marketing, Artsyl Technologies, Inc. “The new features in SimpleCapture 1.2 reflect requests from both service bureaus and vertical marketplaces where efficiency, productivity, and accuracy are all valued,” said Mr. Riley.

Helpful Features to Bolster Productivity and Efficiency

SimpleCapture 1.2 contains elegant, well-thought-out features intended for the user to get up and running quickly and remain productive. Here are just a few of them:

PDF Opening — You can now import PDF documents into your SimpleCapture 1.2 batch, along with TIFF and JPEG images.

Pre-populate Fields thru Database Lookup — If you have a database with a portion of the information to be entered, you don’t need to enter it; simply specify your lookup field in your SimpleCapture 1.2 profile. For example, lookup “Vendor Name” in the case of invoices, and have the remaining fields such as “Vendor Address” and “Vendor Phone” pre-populate without performing any click entry on them. If there are multiple entries, a dialog pops up to allow the user to select the correct entry.

AutoSave — An operator can always pick up where he left off, or in the event of a machine crash during operation, SimpleCapture 1.2 always remembers where you are in your batch since it tracks the number of documents and how many have extracted data; you simply pick up where you stopped.

Validation Rules — SimpleCapture 1.2 includes custom business rules that allow you to check extracted data prior to export. For example, you can check in your table the quantity field multiplied by the unit price field, which equals the total field. These rules are checked after data has been extracted and prior to export. The program places a checkmark to the left of each row to tell you if it’s the rule or not, so you can visually detect broken rules. An operator will be unable to export documents with errors, ensuring that the data reaching the backend is complete and correct.

Validation Button in UI — Artsyl has added a new operator button to check validation rules against extracted fields. The first field that breaks a rule will be highlighted, drawing the operator’s attention to the field and what rule was broken. A table of errors and warnings appears in the UI, showing you all fields breaking rules. With this feature, you can run validation rules at any time.

Multiple Database Links — Users of SimpleCapture can now add as many databases as needed for input or export. The new “DB Connection” tab allows for multiple ODBC databases to be added, an industry-unique feature.

Custom Export Scripts — With a simple API, developers can create any export in SimpleCapture 1.2. Artsyl provides developers with a .Net project shell where they can create a DLL for custom export. When SimpleCapture exports results, it sends them directly to this DLL. The custom export provides reporting on export success or failure.

AutoExport — After extracting all the fields in a profile, this optional feature will prompt the operator to accept instant export through a dialog box. This allows users to more quickly export documents that have passed all validation rules, meaning they will spend less time per document and be able to move on quickly to the next document. This is ideal for organizations processing clear type documents at 300 DPI.

Export Hotkey — SimpleCapture 1.2 includes a special hotkey to export a document once all data has been extracted. Pressing Ctrl + E will export your selected document without the operator having to click on the export button, providing faster export for businesses that prioritize the production cycle.

Image Scaling Hotkeys — Special hotkeys are included in SimpleCapture 1.2 to zoom in and out of a selected image in the image window. Pressing Ctrl + + and Ctrl + - will zoom in and out respectively on your selected document without having to use the zoom buttons on the image toolbar.

Database Export with Updates — This feature allows automatic detection if a record has already been exported to a database. In the event that it has, the operator is given the option to “Update” or “Replace” the information in the database. In the profile, the operator specifies which fields constitute the primary key/duplicate records.

Database Export with Special Characters — This feature allows the administrator to select special characters that would normally be prohibited (such as null, apostrophes, brackets, and enclosure characters) to be exported to the export database.

Ad-Hoc OCR Button — Should an operator ever need to re-OCR a document, this new button allows him to do so in an ad-hoc fashion without reloading a document to the queue.

Column and Cell Table Extraction — For mixed tables, nested tables, and tables that do not have entirely single-line correlated data, SimpleCapture 1.2 now has two modes of table extraction: “column” and “cell”. In column extraction, users gather data from a table by dragging down a column; in cell mode, you can extract one cell at a time. This allows the most efficient extraction from tables without manual data entry, and click-entry of certain types of tables that was previously not possible.

Custom Export File of Processed Images — Now an operator can not only export the results with custom names based on profiles and other naming conventions, but also export the original processed image. You now have full control over the naming of your resulting files. This is great for indexing and search and retrieval of images.
